letters
I think what we have been doing this past week in government class is great. It's actually beyond great, presenting in classrooms trying to get other individuals pumped about writing letters to our soldiers is exciting for me. And working the booth at the lunches trying to spread this enthusiasm makes me actually feel good. Because I know that were doing this for such a good cause, and brightening a smile on a soldiers face in there tough times. I never thought I would actually like participating in such things and I even went to school on Friday night to help with the booth. Emily would normally not enjoy these things, but what we have done was fun, and made me feel better as a person doing something for others, while trying to get others to interact as well. So Thanks Mr. Palo for coming up with this idea, it was GREAT :)

What am I thankful for?
Like you said Mr. Palo there are just so many reasons to be thankful and even for the simple fact of being alive. But right now from recent experiences I am completely thankful for my mother and my father, because without them I do not know where I would be today in a emotional state, and they have done so much for me and my brother because they want the best for us. I am thankful that I have teachers that push me to be the best that I can be. And from that I feel successful in school this year and in all of my high school years this is the first time I can actually say that I am working hard to achieve my goals. I am also thankful that my parents still have there jobs, ummm there is just so many other things I can say I am thankful for but that would take along time to show how I am truly grateful for so many things.

Bush forgives Kanye West for calling him a racist!
Kanye west stated during the time of Hurricane Katrina that George W. bush "doesn't care about black people.". And now Kanye is taking back hes statement on the NBC's "Today show he told Matt Lauer,
"I would tell George Bush: In my moment of frustration, I didn't have the grounds to call him a racist," West said. "I believe that in a situation of high emotion like that, we as human beings don't always choose the right words." I find it surprising that kanye would even apologize for a statement he had made. But even more why would former president even use Kanye west as example of people who called him rascist. To me Kanye west is not important enough to be talked about from a former political leader. But bush had this to say about Kaynes apology "I'm not a hater. I don't hate Kanye West," he said. "But I was talking about an environment in which people were willing to say things that hurt. Nobody wants to be called a racist, if in your heart you believe in the equality of race." I Don't even think this way worth blogging about.

Extremist!!

This man obviously really doesn't like illgeal immigrants. I think in this campaign that was his main focus. After I watched this video I thought to my self that people can become very angry about these sorts of issues. And I also read the comments underneath this video and many people said "thank god we can vote, so we wont allow another hitler". I guess some people can be protrad as that when they don;t hvae an open mind.

School survey (teacher)
Teacher school survey...
1. Why is education important?
- Students learn not only academic skills but real life skills
2. What do you think about our educational system?
- I feel that the standards are becoming more difficult over the years, which makes it too hard for students.
3. What type of changes would you make in the school system?
- I think the school system needs to change by hybrid.. half online and half in the classrooms.
4. Do you we should have more days in school? why or why not?
- Yes, because there is not enough time to cover all standards.
5. Why do you think schools are sp over populated?
- As the city grows.. the school boundry lines grow as well, which would casue an increase in student body.
6. What would you change about the school board?
- All personal...they are taking from teachers.
7. Do you agree with the graduation requirements? (CAHSEE) etc..
- Yes.. the CAHSEE is 6th to 8th grade standards.
8. Do you think uniforms should be mandatory?
- No!
9. Do you support No Child Left Behind?
- No... many students move to the next level without knowing the basic skills.
10. Will more money better our education?
- No... more money could provide the teachers with current technology. It is up to the teacher to better the education.

Obama: Homosexuality is not a choice
President Barack Obama on thursday said that he believes homosexuality is not a choice, which is something I completely agree with. He told the to a town hall style event with mostly students in the audience. He said; "I don't think it's a choice. I think people are born with a certain make-up."
"We're all children of God," Obama said. "We don't make determinations about who we love. That's why I think discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is wrong." Im glad he came out and stated his views on this subject, because it can go back to Dont ask dont tell policy. which I feel this no reason for that poilcy anyways, I mean its good but what does sexualy prefreance have to do with serving our nation.

Bush writing a book!...What the duece???
Former President has come out into a press hearing stating ,"I have written a book. This will come as a shock to some of the elites. They didn't think I could read a book, much less write one,". His book contains as he has stated, about his former years as Presidency and talking about the choices he made for America. Which I feel he is doing this because Obama has repeatedly blamed the "Bush-era policies" for today's huge economic conditions. So I feel he wants to clear the air and have America stop thinking less of him, or better yet blaming him for the way things are today. So I think it is pretty funny that he is writing a book because he also say's , "I loved being your president. But frankly, I'm having the time of my life not being your president. "I do not miss the limelight. I have zero desire to be in the press. I have zero desire to be on your TV screens. Eight years is enough of that." So why would he Write a book?????

War 9 years later....
Nine years ago on October 7th is when The United states sent out troops to Afghanistan, so today would be the 9th anniversary. Which I don't think is a good thing at all, but our troops being sent out, as you know is in response to the September 11th attacks in 2001. Nine years later, more U.S troops than ever before are in Afghanistan as part of a U.S. President Obama-planned surge; Afghan President Hamid Karzai has formed a council to help talk with the Taliban and find a way for peace, and more than 2100 U.S coalition troops have died. ...But I guess after 9 years Americans are wondering or have been wondering when all of this will come to Complete end.
